Messengers from the Past

CHAPTER 2

BENSON

It was spring of 2049 in the central part of New Mexico. The sunshone brightly between the new leaves of freshly planted trees. Cacti of various shapes and sizes grew in abundance. A manmade lakehad an abundance of bass and trout feeding from the surface of thelake. Artificial grass still had the factory smell of manufacturing. A slight breeze moved the flag of the CNAS, mounted on a high postin the center of down town, Sumer City. Below the flag of the CNAS,a second, smaller flag fluttered in the wind. It is a Sumerianthree-colored flag; red, white and green. The red color representsfire, white represents the wind and the green color represents theearth. Tailors embroidered a wheel, consisting of six spokes in thecenter of the flag, depicting the technology and the numerical systemof the Anunnaki descendants and the design of Sumer City. Stonemasons built a sweet water fountain, surrounding the flagpoles. Pumps, powered by solar panels, pumped the water high upward and itlands in a large troth to go through another cycle.

Bensonsat at the end of the conference room table in the governmentbuilding and he looked out the window. He watched the flags as theymoved in the soft breeze. And he watched the fresh water shootinginto the air and returning to the fountain base. He looked at thesolar panels and he gave Ensabar the credit for installing it. Benson was twenty-six years old and he became recently the new leaderof the Urians. He felt a slightly uncomfortable, sitting at the endof the large, mahogany conference room table. It is the seat ofultimate authority and decision-making. The elders of the city areanxiously looking at him. They are sitting at both sides of thetable and they are expecting an answer from him. His father, BenNeidermeier is sitting at the other end of the long table. He is anindigenous person of earth and so is his son, Benson, as odd as thatmight seem. He is also looking at his son, wondering how he willdeal with his subjects. Benson’s tall mother, Nimali is standingnear one of the windows of the conference room. She is drinking froma glass of water and she is intently looking at it. Her large, wideset and dark eyes glanced over the elders and then her look returnedto her son. She wore a gold-embroidered gown, not reaching to thefloor but long enough to cover her silver accented sandals and hersix-toed feet.

Bensonfinally rose in deep thought and said, “Ok, let’s get started onMonday, planning for the installation of the desalination plants. Wehave to stop transporting sweet water from Burak to the surface ofearth. Sumer City is growing fast and we cannot keep transportingwater the way we are doing it.” He looked across the conferencetable to see a reaction of his men when they heard the news. Benson, however, did not expect what he saw. Aramu, Damitu and Ensabar roseand proceeded to leave the conference room. Aramu and Damitu areelders of the Urian tribe and they worked in the government building. Then Benson realized that his elders used mental telepathy tocommunicate. He shrugged his shoulders and he left it at that.

Ensabaris the architect of Sumer city and he returned to the engineeringbuilding. He designed the building and he used three floors toaccomplish his goal of controlling Sumer City’s architecturalobjectives. He has a staff of six civil and chemical engineersworking for him. Ensabar walked into his office, called in hisstaff, and gave them the news, “Officially we should be starting onMonday, but we might as well start today. Arimus, you areresponsible to build the desalination plants at the shoreline of theGulf of California. Use the same drawings, which we used in the cityof Burak, 300,000 years ago. This is still the best technology thatwe have available today. Since there are minimal moving parts, thesystem is still working perfectly. If the Earthlings would like totap into our chemical desalination technology, let them have it. Asan alternative, you might also consider relocating one of our plantsto the surface of the earth. Of course, that will depend on thecost. The water feeder lines will be underground and you should aimthem from the southwestern corner of New Mexico to Sumer City. Talkto the Governor of the State of Mexico before you run the linesthrough his state. For bargaining power you might want to considerselling him a percentage of desalinated water and show him how toirrigate their crops more efficiently. Also make sure that you usethe AG trench diggers that you used in LA to speed up the process.”

Ensabarlooked at Arimus. He turned off his communicator. With thisgesture, Ensabar knew that Arimus understood the substance of hisjob.

Herose and replied, “I will give you my schedule and the associatedcosts during the next few days.” Then he left the conference roomwith long strides, his cloak moving gently from side to side.

Ifit seems strange that Arimus said so little, but everyone understandsthat the Urians, who are part Sumerians of Anunnaki descent, arebeings of few words. Many of them have the ability to read minds andfor those beings, speech is not required. However, since their basicnature is to be polite, they may articulate verbally, for the benefitof others listening in, particularly Earthlings.

AfterBenson gave the order to start building the desalination plants, herose and walked over to his mother.

“Doyou agree with my decision, Mother?”

“Yesson. You have made a wise choice. It is good business practice tohave a backup system. You have learned your lessons well, son. Howdo you feel when you are asked to make important decisions?”

“Ifeel comfortable, Mother. I just evaluate the pros and the cons andthen make the best decision possible. Besides, I have received anexcellent education in both, the Earthling and the Urian schools. Ifeel comfortable in my leadership environment and in the decisionmaking process. My father, though he isan Earthling, has taught me many important management tools, thatrelate to both of our worlds.”

“Youlike your father, don’t you?”

"YesI do, but I also like you, mother. You have spent so much time withme during the last twenty-six years.”

“Yes,I did. Your father started the process and you are one of two Urianswho have saved our race. As you well know, Ariana’s son, Aropad isthe other one.”

"Howmuch longer will Aropad still be involved?"

"Oh,about two more earth years. According to my count, both of you willhave impregnated over seven-hundred-eighty females. That will beenough to save the Urians. Oh, Benson, I have good news for you. Soon you are going to be a grandfather. One of your male childrenhas already successfully impregnated a young Urian female. She isonly one-hundred-sixty-eight earth years old. The offspring will bea female. She will be tall, beautiful with six fingers and toes oneach limb and according to my scan results, she has her own anddistinctly different facial features."

"Thatis good news. Does that mean that you will stop replicating andcontrolling gender?"

"Yes,I think that I won’t need to continue duplicating Urians. However,I am anxiously waiting for your second grandchild. According to thelast scan, it will be a Sumerian male. If he is also fertile, then Iwill know for sure that we will have succeeded." Benson bentdown slightly, kissed his mother on the forehead and she left theconference room with long determined strides to return to herphysician’s offices. Nimali read her son’s mind and she knowswhat he is thinking. He would like to spend a few moments with hisfather.

"Come, father let’s sit down. Would you care for a coffelate?"

"Iwouldn’t mind that at all." Ben and his son walked to the endof the conference room, where the automats are located. He tappedthe coffelate button and a few seconds later, the sliding dooropened. Each took a thin, round and deep dish and returned to theconference room table where they sat down, next to each other. Benlooked at the yellowish-brown liquid and asked, "Did yourbiologist invent this bean? The liquid is delicious and it has afaint sweetness to it."

"Yesfather. He used the spores of the Columbian coffee bean and thespore fruit of the yellow cactus. The ladder grows right here in thedesert. Ariana combined the two organisms to produce a new bean, which we call coffelate. First, she planted the seeds in thelaboratory. When she had a sufficient quantity of beans, she plantedthem in the desert. Now they grow right here in New Mexico. Theclimate is extremely conducive for the growth of this shrub, especially since we started irrigating this area."

"Isee. I like it. It has a rich flavor." Ben sipped his coffeeand studied his son. He has the look of a classic Sumerian and he isintelligent. He is six feet, five inches tall, muscular and he hasan athletic build. He has six fingers on each of his hands, as wellas six toes one each of his feet, is extremely good looking and hisskin tone is slightly bronze colored. He is wearing a combination ofthe Sumerian cloak and the new modern garb.

Benis thinking back twenty-seven years ago, when he met Benson’smother, Nimali, in the city of Parkas one mile below the surface ofthe earth. The supreme chancellor from CNAS sent Ben and his friendSven Bjorken to Hyderabad, Pakindia to observe the efficiency oftheir Tybium mining operation. Tybium is a catalyst used for the newenergy cubes. It was supposed to be a routine checkup. But, thatwas not the way it ended up. The supervisor had the mine operating amaximum capacity, bulldozers moving the ore from the mining site tooverhead conveyors. It was extremely efficient and both, Ben andSven were satisfied with the operation. They concluded that in aboutone hour they were ready to return to the CNAS. Just one more cup ofcoffee then they would leave. While they watched a bulldozer, digging deeper and deeper into the mountain, it suddenly disappearedinto a deep shaft. When the friends saw the bulldozer disappearingfrom their view, both were surprised and both said a few choicewords. They jumped up and ran toward the scene of the accident. When they got there, both looked down the shaft. Whocould have built a shaft so large and so deep?thought Ben. Sven realized what Ben thought and said, “Let’s godown there and find out where the shaft leads to,” lookinginquisitively at Ben.

“I’mall for it,” said Ben exited, never missing an opportunity foradventure. Neither of the friends had lost their pioneering spirit. They took an AGT to the bottom of the same shaft, which was one miledeep. Sergeant Willy Walker piloted it, to find out what became ofthe bulldozer. He was beginning to worry, because he had neverbefore been so far below the surface of earth. When they got thebottom, they found its parts neatly stacked in a corner. Ben andSven left the AGT and walked toward it. Before they had a chance tocheck it out, a very tall person, who was an Urian of pre-Sumeriandecent, approached them. His name was Aramu. Aramu thought theywere Earthling visitors, but before Aramu allowed Ben and Sven toenter Parkas, Aramu’s medical people tested them for diseases andAramu quickly realized that Ben is part Sumerian and that he isextremely fertile. He bent deep in front of him, named him Lord Benand immediately introduced him to Nimali, a full-blooded pre-Sumerianfemale. He convinced Lord Ben that he is destined to be the saviorof the Sumerian race, because the Sumerian males have lost theirability to reproduce, living in confined spaces, one mile belowground for 300,000 years. An orderly took Ben to a private room, where he was required to impregnate Nimali. Ben thought of his wife,Malika, but he had no choice but to accommodate Nimali and Aramu. With a heavy heart, he copulated with Nimali. Actually he enjoyed ittremendously, however he told no one about the feelings that heexperienced, being together with this beautiful pre-Sumerian, elitewoman. Only then, Aramu set Ben free and allowed him to return tohis wife on the surface of earth. Aramu had been waiting for such anopportunity for thousands of years when he finally found Ben. Therewas no way that he would let such a rare opportunity slip through allof his fingers. Nimali’s offspring was a male and Nimali named himBenson. Ben’s wife, Malika, found out about this illicit affairten months later and his infidelity strained their marriage for along time. To this day, Malika has not forgotten about her husband’sillicit affair, but because she is a scientist; she tried tounderstand the motivation of the Urians to use Ben as a stud forreproductive purposes.

"Dad,what are you thinking about?" asked Benson, raising his brows.

"Iwas just thinking about your mother and what an amazing being sheis."

"Yesfather she is a wonderful person. She had guided me all these years. But now, my life is changing. I am going to move into my own home, since Aramu presented me with this great responsibility. I hope thatI can live up to the expectations of my Urian tribe."

"Youwill do just fine, son." Ben and Benson hugged and they parted. Benson looked for his mother, but she had already left. Then Benboarded his turbo vehicle and took the ACTS to return to his home inBaltimore. He misses his wife, Malika. Benson mounted a glider andthen flew down to the city of Burak, where the chemical desalinationplants are located, enjoying the sea life on the way down.
