“I’m going to hold you to that.” She put a trembling hand to her mouth. “Jake…”

 

“I love you,” he said. “I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to wake up with you every morning and go to sleep with you every night. I want to make you happy.”

 

Tears glittered in her eyes, and for a split second he was terrified she was going to say no. “Honey, don’t cry.”

 

“I’m not.” She blinked, and they spilled over her lashes.

 

Jake didn’t argue. “If this is happening too fast—”

 

“It’s not. I’ve waited six years for this.”

 

“I’ve been waiting my entire life,” he whspered.

 

“Well then, we’d better not waste any more time,” she said.

 

Smiling, he reached over with his good arm and pulled her close for a long kiss.
