Finally Ian called out from behind his computer, “It’s all here. He’s telling the truth.”
“You see?” Malu asked, gesturing wildly. “I only needed to reach a safe area before an investigation could expose your syndicate. Why else would I bring the SIM cards with me? I was going to call Weisz as soon as I reached my final destination.”
Cancer lit a cigarette beside me.
“Buddy,” he said to Malu, blowing the first cloud of smoke into the darkening sky, “you already have.”
