Seductive Company

Epilogue

Lady Davenport nervously strolled down the hall toward her private office. She was extremely dismayed with the whole dilemma that India was now facing. As she strolled toward her office, she immediately instructed her secretary to hold all of her calls as she opened the office door and quickly shut it, locking it instantaneously. She strolled over toward her bar, poured herself a drink and gulped it down swiftly. She hurriedly poured another glass as her cell phone began to ring. She gazed at the phone as it sat on her desk, vibrating. She knew she had to answer it but was hesitating. After a few seconds, she strolled over toward her Maplewood stained desk as she immediately answered the call.

“So it’s like that, huh, Ms. Davenport?”

She sighed as she replied to the voice on the other end, “Look…this was not supposed to be like this…you said that you had total control of her!” “No one was supposed to get hurt!”

The voice on the other end sighed as they replied, “All I wanted to do was get the money and blame her for it, but you through in this love bullshit in the process!” “Now we’ve got this damn murder…how do we fix this shit?”

Lady Davenport sighed heavily as she replied, “Fix it…how you let this Danika, bitch get out of control?”

The voice on the other began to chuckle as they replied, “You let me handle Danika…she’ll get what’s coming to her!” “So you fell in love with her…you know this was not part of the damn plan, Marjorie!” “She’s the one who’s supposed to go down for this shit…remembers?”

She sighed as she replied, “I know…I know, but I don’t want anything to happen to her and I’m willing to let you have all the damn money just to make sure that she’s safe!”

The voice on the opposite end just laughed as they replied to the request, “So you’re willing to give it all up…that’s what she worth to you?”

“Look…why don’t you just take the damn money and get out of here now?” “Let me clean this problem up.” “You can have what you want and I can have what I want…then everybody will be happy huh?”

There was complete silence for a brief second, than the voice on the other end slowly responded, “Okay…you can have the girl, but you better fix this with the police or the deals off!”

Lady Davenport smiled as tears commenced to run down her face. She slowly replied, “Fine…I’ll make sure that the police have a suspect but you need to control your girl Danika or she goes down!”

The voice on the other end replied, “You can put the blame on her if you want…I’m done with her anyway!” “TAKE CARE OF IT NOW!”

The phone went dead as she just laid it down on the desk. For the first time in her life, she was in a situation that made her vulnerable. She knew she did not have much time and she had to move fast, so she picked up her phone again and dialed a private number. The phone rang several times before she received an answer.

“Yes Lady Davenport.”

She sighed as she responded, “It’s time to take care of that little problem for me…make sure it’s done clean without a trace!”

She hung up the phone and sat it back on her desk as she thought, “This has got to stop!” “I’ll see to that!” “This has got to end now!”

Later that evening, everyone was cleared to leave the island. The police had ruled Whitney’s death as a tourist robbery gone wrong. The police found no evidence found to charge anyone. The police still considered them as potential witnesses. India was now in her suite, packing her bags as she thought, “I know I need to let this go since Lady Davenport said she would take care of this but, I still want answers…I still want to know why Travis wanted to do this to me?”

Suddenly the intonation of knocking is heard as she thought, “Maybe its Danika coming over to talk.” India sluggishly strolled toward the door, without a care as she opened it. Before she could open it completely, the door swung open abruptly as she screamed slightly, falling to the floor. Travis came rushing in, slamming the door behind him. He gazed at India, as she looked up at him slightly frightened, but mostly confused as she shouted at him, “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IN HERE!” “I’M GOING TO CALL SECURITY!”

She stood up and quickly jumped toward the end table where the phone was sitting as Travis immediately stepped in front of her, gazing down as he responded, “Please don’t call security…just wait…you’ve got to listen to me!”

He took the phone and pulled the cord out of the wall, which made India extremely nervous, as she stood there glaring at him. He was sweating profusely and breathing extremely hard as he grabbed her shoulders and sat her down on the couch.

“Look, India…I know you think that I had something to do with all of this commotion, but trust me…I didn’t do any of this!” “They're setting me up…they're trying to put this shit on me!” “You’ve got to believe me…!”

Although nervous, she tried to remain calm as she decided to go along with his blabbing so-called confession.

“What are you talking about, Travis…Who’s setting you up?”

He gazed at her with tears now running down his cheeks as he replied, “You’re not gonna believe this but the corporation is setting me up…they’re the ones responsible for all of this bull shit going on!”

She looked at him flabbergasted as she responded, “Responsible for all of what bullshit?”

He gazed at her for a second before he finally responded, “This whole scam…this business trip…everything!”

She pushed him away from her as she replied, “You telling me that the corporation is responsible for Whitney’s death?”

As she finished her statement, she immediately thought about the packet that she sent to Corporate. She knew that the one she swapped and sent to Corporate had incriminating information on him embezzling corporate funds, but she did not know what he was talking about as far as Whitney’s death. She sighed as she unhurriedly responded to his statement.

“Are you sure, Travis…what are you saying…that you didn’t know about this whole con?”

He sighed heavily as he replied, “I…uhhh…I didn’t know…uhhh about the whole plan!” “You see I was approached by someone and I…!”

Before he could finish his sentence, she immediately interrupted him, “Approached…what do you mean you were approached…by who…somebody from the corporation?”

He gazed at her as he began to respond to her question.

“That’s just it…I don’t really know!” “At first, I thought it was somebody from the Corporation, but then as everything started to move…and that Lady Davenport came into the picture…things seemed to run differently!”

India sighed as she remained silent, looking up at him with an innocent expression. She strolled over toward the door and opened it as she said, “Travis…I really don’t know what you’re talking about so I suggest you leave right now!”

He glared at her with astonishment as he quickly realized that she did not believe a word that he was explaining to her. He continued to glare at her as he stood up and slowly ambled out of her suite. After he stepped out into the hall, he immediately turned around and shouted, “You’ve got to believe me, India…I know that this sounds crazy but I’m right about this!” “You’ve got to stay away from that Lady Davenport!” “STAY AWAY BEFORE YOU GET HURT!”

She sighed as she slammed the door in his face. She quickly turned to walk toward her suitcases as she thought, “What if he is right…what if Lady Davenport is involved in this con somehow?” “I think I should talk to her about this…I really need to get some answers!”

Ursula filled her glass with ice cubes and poured Crown Royal Black over them. She would come to grips with her problem now. She told herself, by the time she finished her drink, she would have made her decision, finally. However, she drank the drink, the ice cubes melted and became tepid water, and Ursula continued to sit at the table, her mind vacillating. She knew that she had to find a way to keep Marc from going to the corporation or the police about her involvement in the embezzlement con. Having him beat down would not be enough she thought as she glanced at the glass in front of her. She knew the only way to stop would be murder.

Suddenly, she flinched as the sound of her cell phone vibrating on the coffee table startled her. She glanced at the phone number that appeared on the caller id, quickly recognizing it was Marc as she sighed and then picked up the phone. She quickly regained her composure as she pushed the button to answer the call. Before she could say a word, Marc commenced to speak, “I’m sure you know by now that I got your message!”

Ursula tried to act as if she was clueless to what he was talking about as she replied, “Marc…what on earth are you talking about?”

“You know what I’m talking about…you had some guy stop me in the parking garage and commenced to fighting my ass!” “What happened to you Ursula?” “What happened to you that turned you into this uncaring bitch?”

She sighed heavily as she slowly replied to his question, “Marc…you really need to quit with this silly nonsense!” “I don’t have any idea what you’re talking about so I suggest you stop with this, calling me and harassing me with this silly idea that I have problems with India!”

She laughed slightly as he replied, “That’s really funny because I recall you telling me that you despise her because she’s always making the right moves at the company and you wanted your recognition!” “What happened to all that?”

She stepped up to the window, gazing out at the Kansas City skyline as she replied, “I may have said something to that effect, but that doesn’t mean nothing!” “What are you trying to imply here, Marc?”

He looked down kitchen table as he sat down trying to decipher her intentions.

“You sent that thug after me to try to get me to not go to India or the police…well plan didn’t work!” “I’m gonna expose you, India, the company and the authorities as well!” “You have issues girl and if you send anyone after me again…I swear I coming after you!”

She smiled with a demented expression as she responded to his threat, “So you want to play ball with me, huh, Marc?” “You know those are some extremely harsh words to be using on a phone that may be bugged!”

He quickly looked at his phone and then returned the phone back to his ear as he replied, “You just stay away from me!”

He quickly ended the call as Ursula smiled as she thought, “I see that this problem isn’t going away…I need to get this plan completed before it gets really ugly!”

Meanwhile back in the Caribbean, India was preparing to go down to the front desk to check out of the hotel, stepping out of her room and strolling toward the elevator. As she stood waiting for the elevator to reach her floor she thought, “I really need to get some answers from Lady Davenport…I know she can straighten out all of this mess.”

As the elevator doors open, there stood Lady Davenport. She looked extremely surprised as she was now staring at India. She smiled slightly as she responded, “I was just coming to your suite to see you before you left.” “I was hoping we could talk.”

India smiled as she stepped into the elevator, standing next to her. As she stood next to her, Lady Davenport immediately grabbed her right hand and slightly squeezed it as the elevator doors commenced to close. She glanced at Lady Davenport as she noticed that she had a glow in her eyes that was distinctive. She knew that something was unique about it as she felt her slightly rubbing her fingers with her own. She felt as if the relationship had changed and it was intriguing to India. Lady Davenport smiled as she asked India a question, “So are you excited about going back to the United States?”

India smiled as she replied, “I am but I’m really worried about everything…I”

Before she could finish her sentence, Lady Davenport interrupted, “India…don’t worry…I have this taken care of for you!” “You just go and get your affairs taken care of back there and hurry yourself back her to me, okay?”

India smiled slightly and then she responded, “I spoke with Travis this morning and he claims that all of this is some type of set up that involves you…are you part of this con Lady Davenport?” “Are you involved in getting me to take the fall for this scam that he’s taking about?”

As she was now gazing at her flabbergasted, the elevator door opened. She now stood there speechless as India waited for her to respond to her question.

Fade to black…Stay tuned Part II coming soon!
