Rhett By J. S. Cooper

Acknowledgements

No man is an island and no writer can do it all by themselves.

I’d like to take the time to thank Scott Hoover and Ellie of Lovenbooks for providing me with the gorgeous cover photo of model Hollis Chambers. He is the perfect Rhett in my eyes. Thanks to Louisa Maggio of LM Creations for designing the wonderful cover. It makes my heart soar and my smile expand. Thanks to Emma Mack and Lorelei Logsdon for the editing and proofreading jobs. Especially to Emma Mack for taking me on at such short notice and working her heart out to get the book up to scratch.

Thanks to Katrina Jaekley and Tanya Kay Skaggs for reading Rhett chapters at a time and providing me with love and feedback. I appreciate the time you take out to bring me up from the lows and self-worry of the writing process. Thanks to all the members of the J. S. Cooper Indie Agents for all of their support and love and daily interactions.

Thanks to all the readers that have helped to promote me and spread the word about my books. I love the emails and messages I get and I wouldn’t be writing and making a living if you didn’t enjoy my books.

Last, but certainly not least. Thanks to God for all his blessings, for without him nothing would be possible.

Prologue

It all started with a note and a piece of candy when we were seven years old. She sat next to me in class and as the best student in the class, she was always winning pieces of candy from the teacher. One day, I’d had enough of watching her eating candy. I wanted to share in the candy with her, so I sent her a note:

Do you want to be my best friend?

Yes

No

She responded with a “Maybe” and that was the beginning of our friendship.
