Forever and a Day

chapter 5

If they were my type, I damn sure wouldn't be sitting here with you would I?” –Bri

Brielle woke up early the next morning so that she could make breakfast for her friends. Brielle missed having all of her best friends in the same house. This reminded her of when they moved off of Rutgers campus into a house at the beginning of their junior year. They had the best of times living in their house. Brielle's thoughts were interrupted when Danielle, Shanice and Chloe entered the room.

"Good Morning ladies, how was your sleep," an excited Brielle greeted.

"Great," said Danielle responded.

"It was fine," Shanice added.

"The best I've had in a long time," Chloe added.

"That's good. I wonder why," Brielle teased.

"Well I got a date today," Shanice said getting excited.

"With who," questioned Chloe.

"Don't you wanna know," Shanice responded.

"Girl if you don't tell us, we're gonna hurt you," a serious Danielle interrupted.

"If you must know nosey, I'm going out with Lonzo for lunch," Shanice said.

"I have a date today to." Brielle added.

"Well damn, I'm jealous of y'all," Danielle joked.

Before anyone had a chance to respond, Sabriya ran into the house screaming.

"What's wrong," Shanice jumped up worried.

"I'm getting married!" Sabriya jumped up and down showing them her 8-carat wedding ring.

"Oh my God," Brielle screamed dropping the pan on the ground and running over to Sabriya.

"When?"

"Where?"

"How?" the girls questioned, excitedly.

"We want to know everything?" an excited Chloe questioned

"Girl. I woke up this morning and Hakeem asked me to take pictures with him for some photo shoot. So I got up for makeup and stuff. Now we at this place taking pictures, then Hakeem came up to me and say babe our last location is at some newly built football field. So now I'm getting pissed because he knows I hate taking pictures at different locations definitely on weekends. So 20 minutes later we get to the Giants football field and the girl from wardrobe gives me this little ass skimpy cheerleading outfit saying it will match Hakeem's football uniform. So you know I went off. I snatched the uniform and ran on the field to find Hakeem and when I got out there his whole family and my whole family was standing there. Then before I noticed anything, Hakeem was down on one knee asking me to marry him," Sabriya cried.

After Sabriya finished telling the story, all the girls ran up to her for a group hug. Each of the girls began to say congratulations and wish her the best. The girls were so happy for Sabriya and Hakeem. Hakeem turned heads wherever he went. However, he only had eyes for Sabriya. They had been dating since sophomore year of college. Hakeem never showed Sabriya anything other than love. He would definitely do anything for her. The girls always loved Hakeem so they were excited to know that he would be around for life.

After sitting in the living room with the girls talking about wedding plans, Brielle excused herself to start getting ready for her date with Kiyan. He had texted her earlier to let her know he wanted to meet at the Hibachi restaurant in Secaucus. Brielle didn't want to drive in her car, so she decided to switch cars with Shanice and take her Honda accord. Since Kiyan told her to dress comfortable, she decided on wearing her new True Religion jeans & cardigan with a tank top under. After waving goodbye to the girls, she promised she would return later to tell them about her date.

Twenty minutes later, she pulled up at the Hibachi restaurant. When Kiyan saw Brielle coming inside the restaurant he put his phone in his pocket and walked over to greet her.

"Wassup ma," Kiyan hugged Brielle.

"Hey, Kiyan. How are you?" responded Bri.

"I'm good ma, you ready? Kiyan said walking towards the counter, Excuse me my plus 1 is here.

"Follow me, this way, the hostess lead Kiyan and Brielle to their table to be seated, your griller name is Byron and he will be right with you."

"So Kiyan, tell me about your self," Brielle asked.

"What's to tell, my name is Kiyan. I'm 25. I don’t have any kids. My mother raised me. I don't like my father. That's about it"

"Wow. Similar story. I'm 24 going on 25 in two months. No kids, raised by a single mom and I don't care two shits about my sperm donor father."

"We got something in common," Kiyan added.

Before Brielle could respond Byron came over and introduced himself and began taking requests. As Byron began the food, Brielle and Kiyan made small talk. Brielle learned that Kiyan had one brother and no sisters. He loved his mother dearly and he wanted kids in the future but not right now. Kiyan learned that Brielle was an only child and she graduated from Rutgers almost 3 years ago. After Byron was done with the food, Kiyan bought up the topic of sports remembering Brielle and Danielle's reactions to the basketball players last night at the club. He learned that she loved sports.

"So what kind of sports are you into?" Kiyan asked.

"The typical, basketball and football," she responded.

"Favorite team?"

"The Knicks, Giants and I have favorite players."

"Who are your favorite players?"

"I love Melo, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Victor Cruz & Hakeem Nicks. Just to name a few" Brielle responded.

After Brielle gave him her answer, Kiyan thought typical. She was trying to hook up with them last night. I knew it! I knew it was too good to be true. Kiyan decided to joke with her, even though he was dead ass serious.

"So you like dudes with money, Kiyan laughed, let me hide my wallet"

"Excuse me?" Brielle getting offended

"Nothing ma, just playing. Just joking around."

"I don't think you were "just joking" as you put it" Brielle said pushing her chair back.

"Ma, I'm just saying. I saw you last night all up in the basketball players face. I was just asking is that your type?" Kiyan asked.

"My type? If they were my type, I damn sure wouldn't be sitting here with you would I?” Brielle responded.

"I know, that's why I'm confused as to why you accepted the date," Kiyan said.

"Oh so now I get it, your a f*cking ignorant ass nigga. You think just because you got money that shit is suppose to impress me, huh? You done lost your f*cking mind. Let me teach you a lesson, a nigga with money can only impress a broke bitch and I am not broke motherf*cker. I came here today just to get to know you and now I'm mad I wasted my damn time. And by the way Mr. f*cking know it all, the people who faces you saw me in, they are my f*cking clients. So thank you for assuming, and making an ass out of yourself. You got me f*cked up," Brielle finished and got up from the table to leave.

After Brielle left, a stunned Kiyan said to him self, "Damn, I f*cked up big time."

~~~~~
20 miles over, Shanice and Lonzo's date was going the total opposite of Kiyan and Brielle's. They were getting to know each other and becoming comfortable talking to each other. Alonzo was explaining to Shanice how Kiyan signed him almost two months ago and how all he does is be in the studio working. Shanice began to tell him about her degree in business marketing and management. She then began to talk about her career as an event planner. When she was done, Alonzo was impressed that Shanice wasn't your typical hood chick. She made something out of herself and didn't let the hood hold her back.
"I'm impressed Sha." Alonzo complimented.
"Thank you, I try," Sha joked around.
"Nawh seriously. Here I am thinking you were only beauty. You got the brains to back it up. That's special ma,” Alonzo said.
"Awww, look at you making me blush"
"Yeah iight, so are you the only one who is an event planner," Alonzo asked.
"Yeah, I'm an event planner, Bri's an image consultant, Danielle's a sports agent, Chloe is a WNBA coach and Sabriya whom you haven't met yet is the fashion designer. She's the owner of Styles by S." Shanice bragged.
"Damn, that means all y'all making money. I ain't mad at y'all. I could tell y'all were different last night. All of the other chicks in the club were trying to strip in the club and all that other shit. You and your girls were just chilling having a good ole time. That's why I told my boy Kiyan to introduce me to y'all." Alonzo explained.
"Yeah, that's what we do. Kiyan seems cool. He went out with my best friend Bri today. I hope they're having a good time like us." Shanice added.
"Knowing Kiy, they should be good." Alonzo responded.
"Good. Well Alonzo I had a good time with you today." Shanice said.
"Me too. We have to do this again,” Alonzo said standing up to help her out of the chair.
"Definitely. Don't forget I might be planning your birthday party,” she reminded him
"There's no might. You are planning my party. When I meet up with Kiy and Cam later on I'm telling them I chose you," Alonzo said leaving out the diner walking to the parking lot.
As Lonzo was walking Shanice to her car, he gave a big hug and made her promise to text him when she get back to Bri's house. She promised and they both went their separate ways.
