A Beautiful Choice (Beautiful, #5)

Screaming back to her, I said, “I’ll be there in a minute.” Slowly, I trailed my eyes up from Gabe’s shoes all the way to his eyes. He was smiling at me and I didn’t really understand why. Before I knew it, Gabe grabbed me in a hug and lifted me off the ground. Wrapping my arms around his neck, I then kissed him on the cheek and said, “I love you, Gabe.”

“I know, Sarah.” Putting me back on the ground, Gabe said, “I love you too, Sarah,” and leaned down to kiss me.

I grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled myself to him. I crushed my mouth to his. Hearing him groan into my mouth excited me. Gabe wrapped his arms around my waist and stepped in to me.

I wished that I could have been in that moment forever. But sooner than we both wanted, it ended and I was on my way to the University of Maryland.

That’s what I thought about as I hung pictures of me and Gabe up on the four walls that would surround me this year. Grabbing a new picture frame, I started to place it on my ugly brown desk when I looked at it. It was a picture of the two of us on prom night. Memories started to swarm my brain, thinking about that night and how I was so glad I chose Gabe.

I think losing your virginity on prom night is honestly the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of. But it was perfect for Gabe and me. We didn’t plan it, like other juniors and seniors do. I think there are some things in life that you can’t just plan. You have to just let it happen naturally. Sex is one of those things.

Sure you can hope that you lose your virginity to that person. But when you plan it, it doesn’t make it special. Sex is in the moment. It’s not something that you sit down and organize. Now it just makes me think that the two of you sit down and say, “Okay, so first you’re going to unzip my dress,” and so on and so forth.

Sex isn’t planned. The beauty of sex is how natural it is. The ripping of the clothes. The shortness of the breath because you can’t get enough. That’s what happened with Gabe and I and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Hearing someone knock on my door, I turned around and saw two girls standing there.

“Hey, I’m Jade.” Turning to her right, she said, “And this is Ashlynn.” She smiled at me. “We live next door and just wanted to introduce ourselves.”

Jade was this beautiful girl. She had long, brown wavy hair, tan, golden skin, and piercing hazelnut eyes. I could already tell Ashlynn was more reserved, with her dirty blonde hair and dark brown eyes that were hidden under reading glasses.

Putting the picture frame down, I said, “I’m Sarah. It’s nice to meet you guys.”

Before I could say anything, Jade came waltzing into my room like she owned it and hopped up onto my bed. I thought she would sit there, but she made herself comfortable and laid down on my bed. Grabbing one of my fuzzy pillows to hold onto she said, “Oh my God, your bed is so comfortable! My bed sucks asshole. It’s hard as a rock.” Sitting up, she shrugged her shoulders. “Don’t get me wrong, because I love some things hard as a fucking rock, but beds aren’t one of them.” She giggled.

There was something about Jade that I really liked. I could already tell that we would be good friends. Turning to the doorway, I saw Ashlynn was still standing there with her arms crossed. Waving my hand for Ash to come in, I said, “Come on in, Ash. Oh, you don’t mind me calling you Ash, do you?”

Smiling at me, she said, “No, I don’t mind. I actually like when people call me Ash. When someone calls me Ashlynn, I feel like I’m in trouble or something.” Walking in, she hopped up on my roommate’s bed and asked, “Who’s the guy in the photos?”

“Holy hellfire, I didn’t even see that hunk of meat!” Jade yelled. Jumping off my bed, she ran over to my desk and grabbed the same picture frame I was holding earlier. Pushing into my face, she asked, “Please tell me you’ve done this guy!”

“Jade!” Ash yelled.

Looking over at Ashlynn, we were both surprised she yelled that loud and I already knew this girl was a spitfire. She looked like this nerdy librarian but I already knew she could raise some hell. She was probably a freak in the bedroom, too.

Stepping back, Jade smiled. “Well, damn, Ash, you’ve got some lungs on you!” Chuckling, she walked back over to my bed and hopped on, still holding the picture frame. Looking at Ash, she said, “Just promise me you’ll warn me when you have a guy over? I don’t want to hear you screaming his name from down the hall.”

Looking over at Ash, I saw her cheeks redden. Giggling, she said, “Oh, shut up, Jade!”

Dropping the frame onto my bed, Jade’s eyes widened. “OMG, are you a virgin, Ash?”

Ash looked down and Jade jumped up from the bed and ran over to her. Grabbing her by her shoulders, Jade shook her and said, “We are sooo getting you laid! You have no idea what you’ve been missing!” Letting go of Ash, Jade looked at me. “Sarah, you want to come out with me, Ash, and Jason tonight?”

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Ash’s head pop up and her eyes brighten when Jade mentioned Jason. I wondered just who Jason was, so I asked, “Who’s Jason?”
